Get Help

Mental illness is real. It’s real and it’s scary, but it’s not your fault and it’s not a sign of weakness. One of the hardest things for me to learn was that it’s okay to ask for help (and totally necessary, too). No matter how much your mental illness tries to convince you that you’re alone, you are not alone. There is help. Never feel too embarrassed or ashamed to reach out and ask for it.

If you are feeling suicidal or want to hurt yourself, please call for professional help or go to your nearest emergency room right now. Do not wait.

If you feel like you’re in crisis (or know somebody else who might be), please go to to chat online with volunteers who are trained for crisis intervention or 7 Cups of Tea to chat anonymously with active listeners.

There are always other options, even if you can’t imagine what they could be.
There is help. You aren’t alone.
